Trevor Hunt and Claire Taylor

Trevor Hunt
Trevor Hunt is the Network Management Policy Team Leader in the Highways Agency’s Safety, Standards and Research Directorate and is responsible for the development, monitoring and review of national policy on network management issues including the Traffic Management Act and winter service.
Trevor joined the Highways Agency in 2000 after many years working as a Senior Engineer for Local Highway Authorities in the Manchester area. Since then has been a Route Manager for roads in Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire before becoming the manager of the HA’s research policy and programme for two years. He has spent the last twelve months leading the national policy team to provide guidance and support to the Highways Agency teams and service providers, on the management of the motorway and trunk road network.
Presently some of the key projects being taken forward by Trevor’s team are the implementation of the Traffic Management Act, including the development of the Network Operations Management project; the 10 year winter service strategy, and the replacement of the Trunk Road Maintenance Manual together with many routine and ad hoc policy issues.
A keen rugby league fan, Trevor is delighted with the stirring start made by Harlequins Rugby League team in Super League X11 and the impact that Andy Farrell is having in rugby union by helping that nice Johnny Wilkinson to begin to fully realise his potential.

Claire Taylor
Claire joined the Highways Agency in 2002 after graduating in law from Lancaster University.
For the past 4 years she had lead responsibility for delivering a legislative programme in support of the new Highways Agency Traffic Officer Service.  She was a member of the bill team which developed and supported the introduction of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and supported implementation of Part 1 of that Act within the Agency.
She has also delivered secondary legislation in support of the Traffic Officer Service with recent focus on developing statutory powers to enable the Traffic Officer Service to remove and dispose of vehicles from the Agency road network in the future.
In the last month she has embarked on a new role within the Agency. As a Civil Contingencies Manager she now has lead responsibility for emergency planning issues within the East and East Midlands region for the Agency.
