Intelligent Transport Systems are a combination of Information Technology and telecommunications, allowing the provision of on-line information in all areas of public and private administration. ITS can be applied to road, rail, air and sea transport through real time passenger information systems, information to mobile phones and web related data. ITS can improve safety through the provision of on-line information to drivers in their vehicles, and by equipping the vehicle with computerised systems which assist the driver. The ITSSpecial Interest Group (SIG) is intended to provide a forum for those practitioners required to carry out work in this area. It will enable you to exchange experience, promote best practice and raise questions/problems which others within the SIG might be able to help.
