The Network & Infrastructure Management Board has been established to build on the former Highways and Infrastructure Board, and Network Management Board to strengthen the Institution's focus on the enhancement, operation and management of transport networks and assets. In the context of the New Approach to Appraisal (NATA), attention should be focused on all modes of transport including freight, vulnerable users, rail, passenger transport, air, water and multi-modal methods.
The primary objectives of the Network & Infrastructure Management Board are set out below:
To strengthen the Institution's focus on the enhancement, operation, management, maintenance and safety of transport networks and assets.
To seek, promote and support innovation in the enhancement, operation, management, maintenance and safety of transport networks and assets.
To stimulate research and studies, and facilitate the dissemination of information and results into the enhancement, operation, management, maintenance, and safety of transport networks and assets.
To encourage the implementation of best practice, and to help practitioners provide high quality services and outcomes.
To work across the range of transport industry sectors.
To take opportunities to raise the profile of the Institution.

The Board are currently developing a programme of conferences and discussing subjects for publication. At the next meeting the Board will consider submissions for the IHT Awards 2008 and will also be responding to consultations and discussing Policy Statement topics.
