Andrew Murray has worked for Roads Service (NI) for more than 20 years. During this period, he has gained widespread experience of highways issues.
Following a period as the Divisional Manager of Roads Service's Northern Division, Andrew has recently been appointed as Head of Transportation in that organisation. He represents Roads Service on a number of NI and UK bodies.

Philip Robinson graduated from Queens University, Belfast in 1991 and from Liverpool University in 1993. After 3 years working in the private sector, he moved to the public sector where he has been working for DRD – Roads Service for the past 12 years.
Philip currently works in Network Development Branch in Roads Service Headquarters, with responsibility for Bridge Strengthening, European Programmes and the approval of Geometric Standards. He is also a Chartered Professional Reviewer for the IHT.

John graduated in civil engineering from Queen's University Belfast in 1984. Having spent the first part of his career working in the private sector with consultants, Ferguson and McIlveen, he joined Roads Service in 1986. John has over 20 years of experience in all aspects of highway engineering and is currently a the Head of Transportation and Engineering Policy within the Agency. John is the Honorary Treasurer if the NI Branch and a Professional Reviewer for IHT.

Philip Heyburn has worked for Ferguson McIlveen (Consulting Engineers) since graduating from Queens University, Belfast in 1984. During this time he has been involved in the design and construction of Highway and Railway Infrastructure Projects. Philip is currently leading a design team which is developing a number of major strategic road improvement projects within Northern Ireland.

Dr David Hughes graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1986 and is a Senior Lecturer in Geotechnical and Highway Engineering in the School of Civil Engineering, Queen’s University Belfast. He is a past Chairman and Honorary Secretary of the NI IHT Branch. He has active research on climate effects on slope stability; pavement design in unsaturated soils; and on the use of marginal or recycled materials in pavements.

Louise McDevitt graduated from Queens University, Belfast in 1996 and has worked in the traffic management and transport planning fields for the last 12 years in both the private and public sectors. She also graduated from Imperial College London in 2003 with a Masters in Transport whilst working as part of Transport for London's Congestion Charging Team.
Louise McDevitt currently works for Atkins Limited as a Managing Consultant in their Belfast office. She is responsible for providing management and technical inputs into a wide range of transport planning projects. She is a Chartered Engineer through the IHT and won the national Karen Burt Memorial Award from the Women's Engineering Society in 2006. |

Douglas Ferguson has been a Member of the Institution since 1976 and was elected a Fellow in 1992. He was an active member of the Northern Ireland Branch Committee for over 10 years during which time he served as Branch Secretary for 5 years (1984-86 and 1988-91). He was elected Branch Chairman for 1987-88. Douglas was awarded the Certificate of Merit at the NI Branch AGM on the 24th April 2006. |
