Geography

The North Eastern Branch covers Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham and Cleveland.

The Branch was established on 19 September 1952 and celebrates its Golden Jubilee anniversary this year. Membership of the Branch has been fairly consistent and at present is about 350.

A Community Spirit

Strong links have always been maintained with local authorities, local universities, contractors and consulting engineers. This is evident by representatives from them being on the Branch Committee

The Branch Today

Meetings are held in Durham County Hall, Gateshead Civic Centre and other local venues.

The Branch presents two seminars each year and has covered such matters as Bituminous Materials & Highway Maintenance, Traffic Signs Manual, Urban Safety Guidelines, Street Works Act, Winter Maintenance and Best Value in Service Delivery. Up to six technical meetings are also held each year and a Papers Evening competition for engineers under 35 years of age.
