Mary Lewis Chief Executive of the Institution of Highways & Transportation
Mary was appointed Chief Executive of the Institution of Highways & Transportation in December 2001. Mary was born and educated in London. She graduated in 1975 from the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, with a degree in English. Her first appointment was with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Spells with the Geological Society, the Institution of Municipal Engineers as Head of Education and Membership, and the Institution of Civil Engineers, where she was involved in setting up the Association of Municipal Engineers, followed. In 1986 Mary joined the Chartered Institute of Bankers, which led to her appointment as Director of Finance and Personnel as well as Director of its publishing subsidiary. Thirteen years later, Mary returned to London to become the first Executive Secretary of the Physiological Society.
Mary lives in London with her husband Nicholas Woolley. |
