We would like to invite Branches to nominate Branch Members for the Certificate of Merit, awarded for Outstanding Services to the Institution.  This may comprise an exceptionally high commitment to a Branch or Branches as an office holder over a period of many years (usually 10), exceptional service to the Council over several 6 year periods, or a major contribution to the Institution's operation in some other way, in matters such as recruitment of members, developing a new service to members etc.

Generally speaking, Council is looking to make the award to those who have demonstrated notable leadership and involvement in IHT activities (both social and technical), which goes well beyond their specified roles. The award marks the work of those who have given generously of their free time for no personal reward and for the benefit of their colleagues. The award will not be made for one single achievement, for example organising a Presidential conference.  Examples such as this however, could form part of the nomination.

Nomination forms will be sent out to Branches and will also be available on the website. The closing date for nominations is Monday 5 March 2007. The Executive Board will consider all nominations at its meeting on 26 March 2007 and recommended nominations will then go to Council to be approved on 24 April 2007. Please make a note of the closing date – nominations received after this will not normally be considered until next year’s cycle.
