Leisuremobility provides an integrated package of transport: Ring & Ride; Taxicard; Shopmobility for individual mobility; adapted cycles for exercise and recreation, and access to a greater range of destinations and events, and using a mobile Shopmobility service (Leisuremobility). This integration of services is admirable, and forms an example of good practice that could be adopted elsewhere.
The mobile Shopmobility service makes it possible for people with mobility impairments to attend exhibitions, county shows, etc and can be combined with other accessible transport to provide recreational outings, for example to Dartmoor. The availability of adapted cycles is admirable. The software for managing the client list, taking bookings and monitoring performance is state of the art, and the package developed by ECTA is already being used by about a dozen other providers.
Governance of ECTA is by a Board of Trustees, on which users are represented (this has been written into their constitution). The ECTA is an organisation directed by its users, not providing services for 'other people'. This again is exemplary good practice. |
