Alistair Haydock BA BSc CEng FICE FIHT Past President 2006-2007

Alistair is a Director of Haydock Young Consultancy, which provides public and
private sector clients with a wide range of management and engineering advice. He is also a Director of AlderCross Training & Events, which organises conferences, in- house training etc, and AlderCross Developments, which operates in the residential property market.

Following graduation from UMIST, Alistair worked for Lancashire County Council
before moving to Cheshire County Council in 1973. Working mainly in the traffic and transportation engineering field, he was appointed Chief Transportation Engineer in 1989.

In 1994 Cheshire split its engineering service along client-provider lines and Alistair was appointed County Consultancy Manager. The two engineering services were re-amalgamated in 1999 and he became County Engineer. He left the County Council at the end of his contract and set up Haydock Young and AlderCross.

Alistair has been a member of IHT for over 30 years, is active in the North Western
Branch and first joined the IHT Council in 1996. He was President in 2006/07.

Alistair supports Preston North End FC from afar and watches Lancashire play
cricket whenever he can. Alistair and his partner, Maria Burns, live in Chester. They
have four children (Alison, David, Hannah & Lucy) and enjoy the theatre, classical
music concerts and walking the dog (Bella)!
