Events to mark the Institution’s 75th Anniversary were organised by both Endsleigh Street and the Branches. Transportation Professional also played a large part in the celebrations, with 75th Anniversary features and articles produced throughout the year and a special 75th Anniversary edition in June.
Some of the special events held were:
A Dinner for Council and Boards at the Commonwealth Club, Northumberland Avenue to mark the occasion of the first ever Council Meeting
An Act of Thanksgiving Service at St James’s Piccadilly, followed by a Dinner at the Lansdowne Club, Mayfair.
The Presidential Conference on the theme of ‘A Look into the Future’
75th Anniversary Lecture on ‘The Future of Transportation’ given by Dr Chris Luebkeman, Director of Foresight & Innovation, Arup.
A Dinner for Honorary Fellows and Past Presidents at the Cabinet War Rooms, London
Changes in Highways and Transportation over the last 75 years in North Wales – a series of talks held by the North Wales Branch
‘Transport over the Years’ – an evening meeting organised by the South Eastern Branch
Dinner and festival fireworks organised by the Central and Southern Scotland Branch
Transport Nostalgia Evening – Thames & Chilterns Branch
Special 75th Anniversary Memorabilia was produced for the year; this included 75th Anniversary Tumblers, a 75th Anniversary paperweight (South Wales Branch), a Pin (Hong King Branch) and Mouse Mats and Coasters (North Eastern Branch).
