The Foundation has been created by IHT to receive charitable donations from collections and other appeals to distribute to activities and projects that we can support as part of our charitable aims. The means that the focus will be on educational or innovative proposals that advance the art and science of highways and transportation. The funds raised go into a restricted IHT account so that they can only be used strictly for this purpose.
The Annual Lunch collection raised £11,669 and when gift aid and other donations are taken into consideration the Fund is already approaching £15,000. A management committee has been set up under the chairmanship of David Hutchinson to drive the work of the Foundation. The committee will meet quarterly to consider applications for grants against a set of agreed criteria.
A promotional pack will be available shortly for circulation to potential applicants including for example local schools, colleges and relevant local organisations. The pack will be available on request for anyone wishing to apply or wishing to pass onto potential applicants.
Applying for a grant
The management committee have agreed the criteria and guiding principles for applicants to address in submitting bids for funds. The aim is to keep the paperwork and procedures involved simple, fair and transparent to encourage a wide range of ideas for projects and schemes. Once the Fund starts its work the examples of how the money is being used will encourage more schemes to come forward.
Any one wishing to apply for a grant should read the criteria and guidance document Click here and complete the downloadable application form by Clicking here. Completed forms can be emailed to Foundation@iht.org or posted to IHT, 6 Endsleigh Street London WC1H 0DZ
